Yes that's a live snake, one of the participant is hanging a live snake onto his neck.

The competition starts at 7am and I arrive in the city at past 11 in the morning. Too bad, I miss all the beautiful floats at the parade and the streetdance competition with the colorful costumes and well choreographed dance moves. Well there is always a show every year. Congratulations to all Iriguenyos, it's a great show. WELL DONE to all of you!!!

That's odd because most of the time there are lots of people here strolling and having a cup of tea or a pint of beer. I think they don't want to be blown away by wind that is travelling at an average speed of 60mph.
